Child-friendly homes
Modern homes are relatively safe and child friendly but there are still hazards around your home that you must watch out for, especially with small children on the loose.
All of your furniture needs to be stable and well balanced; a toddler can easily upset tall furniture and will be in danger of being injured by the resulting cascade.

Cupboards are normally full of interesting things for inquisitive children and are often a source of great exploration. There are many dangerous things in your cupboards, especially in the kitchen (blenders, glassware and cutlery) and these can potentially harm your children. Fit child safety latches at the top of all the cupboards and drawers, these are very simple to install and ensure safety for your children around the home.
You can also get corner protectors for all the sharp corners in the house, glass coffee tables look nice but have corners that are very dangerous for the little ones. Corner protectors are nicely rounded and save a nasty gash or a bump on the head. Keep doors that lead into any dangerous areas like a garage or storeroom closed at all times. Additionally if you have toddlers it is a good idea to block off stair access with little gates so that their explorations do not lead them down a flight of stairs.
There are a number of products that can help protect your children around the home and reduce the risk of them being harmed. Stove guards are extra railing on the top of your stove that prevent any pots and pans from slipping off and scalding your children. It is also a good idea to stow wires and electrical cables away from curious hands to prevent appliances, decorative items and things like lamps being pulled off shelves and counters.
A few simple adjustments to your home and you will be able eliminate a lot of worry and danger when you have toddlers running around the house.
