The Tesco Travel Money Card is no longer available to new customers. Existing customers can continue to service their card in the usual way.
What is a Tesco Travel Money Card?
It's a prepaid travel card that you can load with money for your holiday spending. It's available in a US dollar or Euro version.
It's different to a credit, charge or debit card as it's not linked to a bank account so you can't go overdrawn or spend more than you have.
You apply for the card online and you can use it to shop online, in store or over the phone every where you see the MasterCard® Acceptance Mark. Each time you use your card, the amount of your purchase is deducted from your balance. When your balance is running low, you can simply top up your card again via SMS/text, online or over the phone. Once a transaction has been authorised it cannot be stopped.
The Tesco Travel Money card does not have a credit facility, you are in control of your account through checking your balance and topping up with more money. Please note your Prepaid Card cannot be used at any merchant where authorisation for the transaction is not requested electronically.'
When applying for the card we are required to ask you for details so that we can verify your identity and address.

Ways to use the Tesco Travel Money Card
With the Travel Money Card being more secure than cash and more convenient than Travellers' cheques, it's the perfect card for the following:
- Paying your bill at a bar or a restaurant
- Paying for extra holiday activities and days out
- Pay when you fill your hire car with fuel
Additional Benefits
100 Clubcard Points when you first load your card!
100 Clubcard Points will be awarded to your account when your first top up your Tesco Prepaid Travel Money Card. Your Clubcard Points will be shown on your quarterly statement. A little extra towards those essentials for your trip, from sun cream to a beach towel!
Clubcard points will always be allocated to the next available Clubcard statement. This may not be the next statement that you receive.
Second emergency card
When you apply for a Tesco Travel Money Card you can also chose to apply for a secondary emergency card. Should you lose your main card, we can transfer the remaining funds to the emergency card so you can continue spending.
One short phone call is all that is required to cancel your old card and activate the replacement (Please note you will need to carry the emergency card with you, but remember to keep it in a safe place, separate from your main card). This card can only be issued in your name.
